How much does Tesla Wall Connector installation cost in Eastern CT?+
Most Eastern CT Wall Connector installs run $800-$1,800 fully installed, depending on the distance from the panel to the install location, conduit needs, whether the panel has room for the new 60A breaker, and whether the install is a Gen 3 or Universal. Detached garage runs add cost. Budget the full number: since January 1, 2026 the upfront Eversource rebate is limited to income- or HPLO-qualified households, and the federal 30C credit does not apply to anything placed in service on or after July 1, 2026.
Do I need a panel upgrade for a Wall Connector?+
Sometimes. The Wall Connector wants a 60A double-pole breaker. If your existing 200A panel has room and your overall service load can handle the additional 60A continuous draw, no upgrade needed. If your panel is 100A or fully populated, an upgrade or sub-panel is required. The load calc during the walk-through tells us which path is right.
Can I install the Wall Connector myself?+
It depends on the home, and the honest answer is more useful than a scare line. Connecticut's homeowner exemption (Conn. Gen. Stat. § 20-340(11)) lets an owner-occupant do electrical work in the single-family home they own and live in, or are about to live in — so a licensed contractor is not automatically required there. That exemption is from licensing only: the same statute keeps the work subject to inspection and approval by your town's building official and to the State Building Code, so the permit and the passed inspection are required either way. It does not cover rentals, multi-family buildings, a home you are building to sell, or work in someone else's home — those do require a licensed contractor. Two practical catches for a Wall Connector: Eversource requires a paid invoice from a licensed electrical contractor to claim any incentive, and Tesla's warranty requires professional installation. Beyond that, the load calc, conduit routing, 60A breaker selection, and grounding are what decide whether the circuit passes inspection and runs safely for a decade — which is why most owner-occupants who could self-install still call us.
How long does the install take?+
Typical single-Wall-Connector install is 2-4 hours on-site. Multi-Wall-Connector setups or detached-garage runs take 4-8 hours. Permit application takes 1-3 business days through most Eastern CT town halls; inspection happens after the install. Total contract-to-operational: typically 5-10 business days.

What about charging an F-150 Lightning or Rivian — same install?+
Yes. The Tesla Universal Wall Connector has both a NACS plug (Teslas) and a J1772 plug (everyone else) on a single unit, switching between them as needed. Ford F-150 Lightning, Rivian R1T, Hyundai Ioniq, etc. all use J1772 and work with the Universal. For non-Tesla households, the Universal is what you want. For Tesla-only households, Gen 3 is fine and cheaper.
Will my Tesla service plan or Tesla insurance cover any of the install?+
No — Tesla doesn't bundle home-charging installation with the vehicle or insurance. The charger purchase is from Tesla directly; installation is contracted separately with a licensed electrician (us). Since January 1, 2026 the Eversource upfront rebate only offsets that cost for income- or HPLO-qualified households; for everyone else, Managed Charging credits are the remaining offset.
