Generator Installation
Vernon, CT

Tight Rockville lot pad placement

Rockville\’s pre-1925 mill-cottage housing sits on 0.1-0.2 acre lots with neighbors close on at least 2 sides. Generator pad placement around lot lines (Generac requires 18” minimum from any combustible wall and 60” from any opening), bedroom-side noise impact for adjacent properties, and shared-driveway coordination during the Eversource meter-pull window all matter. We walk every Rockville lot before pricing.

Route 30 / I-84 commuter belt

North Vernon households along Route 30 and the I-84 commuter belt see less storm-driven generator demand than rural towns — denser housing means less tree-fall on overhead drops. Most Vernon generator demand here is driven by household work-from-home reliability rather than weather emergencies. The default install is a Generac 18-22kW for typical commuter-household load.

Two-family meter coordination

Many Vernon-Rockville properties are two-family conversions with shared services. A generator install can require pre-emptive meter separation work to give each unit its own transfer switch and avoid backfeed across the shared service drop. We typically combine the generator install and meter separation into a single permit when this comes up.

Historic Rockville district awareness

Park Street, Union Street, and Talcott Park properties contributing to the Rockville National Register district require careful exterior-visible coordination. Generator pad placement typically routes to the back of the property; gas-line and conduit run through basement chases. We coordinate with the Vernon historic preservation office for any exterior service-side changes.

What we install — Generac & Kohler

Both Generac and Kohler whole-house standby generators are CT-popular. Generac has the larger CT dealer network; Kohler tends to run quieter. We’ll walk you through both for your Vernon load profile.
